Iran Reports Targeting USS Abraham Lincoln with Missiles
State media outlets released footage claiming that Iranian forces launched coastal cruise missiles toward the US naval vessel, while naval officials described the operation in statements.
According to reports, Iran’s Navy commander, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, said the movements of the “enemy” aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln are under continuous monitoring and would be targeted once it enters the range of Iran’s missile systems.
Reports added that cruise missiles capable of hitting coastal targets were fired toward the US carrier group, prompting it to alter its position. However, there has been no confirmation from the United States regarding the claim.
The developments come as the US and Israel continue airstrikes on Iran, which began on Feb. 28 and have resulted in more than 1,340 deaths, including the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, leading to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
