IAEA Chief, Iran Agree to Resume Inspections
“In Cairo today, agreed with Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi on practical modalities to resume inspection activities in Iran. This is an important step in the right direction,” Grossi stated on the US social media platform X.
Grossi also expressed gratitude to Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its senior diplomat for facilitating the arrangement between both sides.
“Grateful to Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty for his commitment and engagement,” he added.
Cairo has been acting as a mediator between Tehran and the UN nuclear watchdog in order to settle their standoff.
Iran had suspended collaboration with the IAEA after recent US and Israeli strikes, accusing the agency of showing partiality against it.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Egyptian and Iranian foreign ministers convened in Cairo to discuss bilateral ties and Iran’s nuclear dossier.
