Explosions Reported Across Southern Iran Following US Army Operation
Reports indicated that several sites, including Sirik, Minab, and Qeshm Island, were affected during the operation, which was said to involve US fighter aircraft. Residents in the region reported hearing numerous explosions as the attacks unfolded.
According to reports, at least six blasts were heard across the targeted areas. Iranian state television confirmed that one projectile impacted the city of Sirik, while later reports stated that additional projectiles struck Qeshm Island. Authorities did not immediately clarify the exact nature or extent of the damage.
Air defense systems were subsequently activated in several parts of the province, including Bandar Abbas, Sirik, and Qeshm, according to state media.
Separate reports also described a series of explosions near strategic locations in the region. Four blasts were reported at Jask port, while another explosion was said to have occurred on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas.
The incidents followed an announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM) that American forces had begun conducting what it described as “self-defense” operations against Iran.
According to the US military, the action was launched in response to an earlier incident involving the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter.
